Weather finder, Wx Finder, or WxFinder was inspired by the website runwayfinder.com. It overlays aviation weather on top of Google Maps.
METARs, PIREPS, and weather radar are displayed on the familiar Google Maps. A color coded circle for ceiling or a wind vector appears for airports. A route between airports (e.g. KLAX KSFO) can be entered to display a course line.
Great for the pilot to determine what the weather is at airports near and far.
Currently, both the METARs and PIREPS are displayed in coded form. Future improvements will provide the option for decoding.
The data displayed is directly from aviationweather.gov.
This is an early beta release. We’d be interested in any comments and feature requests.
