Johnathan Paul Manziel commonly referred to as “Johnny Football,” a nickname given to him by fans and students at Texas A&M before the start of the 2012 season (born December 6, 1992) is an American Football quarterback for the Texas A&M football team.

He was highly recruited out of high school as a dual-threat quarterback with an impressive ability to extend plays. On August 16, 2012, Manziel was named starter for the 2012 Texas A&M Aggies football team. He plays in Kevin Sumlin’s Air Raid offense. A&M’s first season in the SEC is 2012 and he made his mark in an upset of #1 Alabama.

Manziel was born in Tyler, Texas, to Michelle and Paul Manziel. He has one sister. Out of high school he was noticed for his ability to extend plays and is compared closely to quarterback Michael Vick. In high school he scored on a throwing, rushing, reception, and kickoff return.[5] He was very highly recruited out of high school. He had offers from Texas A&M Aggies, Baylor Bears, Colorado State Rams, Iowa State Cyclones, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Rice Owls, Stanford Cardinal, Tulsa Golden Hurricane, and the Wyoming Cowboys.
