Since 1967 the International Museum of Art & Science has been bringing world-class art and science exhibitions, and engaging educational programming to the Rio Grande Valley. It is the only Smithsonian Affiliated museum south of San Antonio, and the only institution accredited by the American Association of Museums in South Texas. Throughout the year IMAS visitors can experience a number of revolving exhibits in one of its five Fine Art Galleries where they can see works ranging from French Impressionists prints, to Modernists paintings, to Contemporary Surrealist sculptures. The museum also provides a unique opportunity for visitors to participate in hands-on activities, travel the universe with our permanent Science On a Sphere exhibit, and enjoy family-friendly cultural events during the year. IMAS’ Permanent Collection includes Folk Art, Fine Art, and a Geological Collection.
